When the operating system is freshly installed, one of the first things you should install, besides drivers and codecs, is Adobe Flash Player. It enables developers to deliver rich multimedia contents and it allows regular users to play them on web browsers. If you prefer other browsers than Internet Explorer, then you should look for the Non-IE version of Adobe Flash Player. It provides the same functionality, for Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari or Opera.

Adobe Flash Player (Non-IE) is available for all major platforms, like Windows, Mac OS X, Linux or Solaris. Installing the player takes only a few seconds and you only need to click a button to complete the operation. With a 2.33 GHz processor or faster and at least 128 MB of RAM, Adobe Flash Player will run without any problems.

Installing Adobe Flash Player (Non-IE) is all you have to do if you wish to play rich multimedia contents on Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or other web browsers. You don't have to run an executable and there is no need to interact with any menus and options. The player will run automatically when you play Flash movies or games on your preferred web browser.

Although you don't have to do anything else besides installing the player, you can still make a few tweaks if you want to. While playing a Flash video or game on a browser, you can right click and select the Settings options. This will display a small tabbed window, on which you can enable or disable hardware acceleration, allow the current website to access your webcam and microphone, set a higher, lower or an unlimited storage space on your hard drive for the website and configure your webcam or microphone.

Pros

You can play rich multimedia contents on Firefox, Chrome, Opera or Safari. The player can be installed almost instantly, without making any configurations. Flash Player is offered free of charge and its hardware requirements are modest.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to speak of. The functionality that Adobe Flash Player (Non-IE) provides is essential to any computer, for playing rich multimedia contents.
